Designed for serious long distance cruising, the Spirited 480 is perfect for sailing the world! Just oozing 'wow' factor this beauty is guaranteed to turn heads at any port. The 480 brings a new dimension to living on the water with unsurpassed space to accommodate even a large party in comfort.

The Spirited 480 will be a delight to sail with responsive handling and good manoeuvrability. Following in the footsteps of the smaller Spirited 380, the 480 is set to be a true performer on any point of sail. The longer waterline length will achieve faster average boat speeds with a more comfortable ride. The modern design rig is a good balance between cruising and performance.

This design will achieve excellent passage speeds even while fully loaded in cruising trim. The slim hulls use a 14:1 beam to length ratio which not only allow the hulls to be easily-driven but achieves a very comfortable motion at sea. The fine entry bows cut through the waves with minimal drag or lift. The hulls have long extension forward of the bridgedeck offering good safety in support, especially downwind when extreme pressure can be applied to the bows. The generous hull extensions also help to keep green water off the cabin structure and windows.

The bridgedeck clearance is a respectable 900mm when fully loaded, which will reduce the risk of slamming. The light weight structure and well-proportioned underwater hull sections of the 480 assists in an agile motion at sea which helps to avoid bridgedeck slamming.

The exceptional safety features found on the Spirited 480 are the same than on the Spirited 380:

  • Decks are large and flat, allowing an easy walk around the roof whatever the weather;

  • The large flat working area around the mast at deck level allows safe reefing of the mainsail;

  • A storm jib can be installed on the fixed inner forestay in a minute;

  • The catwalk between trampoline nets provides safe access to the inner forestay, the genoa furler and the spinnaker;

  • The trampolines with continuous rope system ensures no gap is left to trap feet or fall;

  • The two steering wheels are well within the cockpit; there is always one on the dry side...

  • The "sacrificial" daggerboards, built with 80 kg/m3 foam, are light and forgiving if a collision were to take place;

  • The structure has been designed with a safety coefficient of 3 and can withstand the toughest conditions;

  • The balsa core and the watertight compartments give more than 200% buoyancy in case of capsize (CE regulations ask for 120%), ensuring level of bridgedeck remains high above water;

  • In addition to the foam noses, there are two separate watertight forward crash boxes in each hull for added protection in case of collision;

  • Both hulls have watertight compartments under cabin soles, again increasing safety in case of collision or grounding on rocks;
